I had an interview with a PR firm the other day and I was told that sending a hand written follow up note is a good thing to do. I did just that; it being a PR firm, I sent them a fake press release in which I thanked them. At the same time, I was multitasking and writing a ransom note for unrelated business matter. I’d really rather not get into all of that – Oh no, I’ve already said too much. But what happened was that the two projects looked very similar when finished; I think I sent the right ones to the right people.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 20, 2009 – Santa Monica, CA. Tim Winter just had a great interview at (blank) Public Relations and he wishes to extended his gratitude for being chosen as a candidate for the PR Assistant position. Give him the job or else; Winter asks for $30,000 in non sequential bills to be paid over the course of one year. When the first drop is made he will return the PR award that was taken from the CEO’s desk. When the final payment is delivered, he will release the CEO’s 19 year old daughter. You will be hearing from us.
Update: Well they didn’t hire me but at least they got the joke and will always remember me; I’m sure It’s not everyday that they get a letter made out of cut up newspapers and letters from magazines that are taken from their very own lobby.
